ADHD & Autism Assessments

Neuro-developmental assessments for children, adolescents, and adults

A comprehensive neurodevelopmental assessment can provide clarity, validation and practical direction – not just a diagnosis.

ADHD and autism can affect attention, learning, emotional regulation, communication, sensory processing, social interaction, behaviour, relationships, study, work and daily functioning. At Sanctum Psychology, assessments are conducted with care, clinical rigour, and an understanding that each person’s profile is unique.

Assessments are available for children, adolescents and adults, and may assist with diagnostic clarification, treatment planning, school or university adjustments, workplace accommodations, NDIS planning, and personal understanding.

ADHD Assessment

ADHD can affect attention, impulse control, organisation, time management, emotional regulation, motivation, task initiation and follow-through.

It may present primarily as inattention, hyperactivity/impulsivity, or a combined presentation. In adults, ADHD can be complicated by years of masking, compensation, burnout, anxiety, perfectionism, trauma, sleep difficulties, or high intellectual ability that has helped the person cope until demands increase.

An ADHD assessment considers current symptoms, developmental history, functional impact, patterns across settings, and whether the difficulties may be better explained by another condition or life circumstance.

Autism Assessment

Autism can affect social communication, sensory processing, flexibility, routines, interests, emotional regulation, relationships, learning, work, and daily functioning.

Autism can look different across age, gender, culture, personality, intellectual ability, and life experience. Some people are identified in childhood, while others seek assessment in adolescence or adulthood after years of masking, exhaustion, social confusion, anxiety, or feeling different without a clear explanation.

An autism assessment considers developmental history, social communication, sensory profile, repetitive or restricted patterns of behaviour or interest, functional impact, strengths, support needs, and differential diagnosis.

Combined Autism and ADHD Assessment

Autism and ADHD commonly overlap. Some people seek assessment because they are unsure whether their difficulties are best explained by ADHD, autism, anxiety, trauma, giftedness, personality style, burnout or a combination of factors.

A combined assessment allows for a more integrated formulation, particularly when there are concerns about attention, executive functioning, sensory overload, social communication, emotional regulation, rigidity, masking, study, work, or long-term difficulties that have not been fully explained by previous treatment.

Our approach

The goal is to understand the whole person: their strengths, challenges, support needs, and the way their neurodivergent profile affects everyday life. Recommendations are practical, individualised, and designed to support functioning across home, school, study, work, relationships, and community settings.

At Sanctum Psychology, assessments are designed to provide clinical clarity, depth, and useful direction for lasting change.
